Hundreds of River Valley women will now have a new place to get screened for breast cancer.
Thursday St. Edward Mercy showed off its new mammography van in Fort Smith. The 33 foot Winnebago
replaces the old van which had became unreliable on the road and often broke down.
Mercy has been fundraising for a new van since 2010 and was made a reality, thanks to onations from Arvest Bank, the Walker Foundation and the hospital auxiliary.
According to Mercy officials, 1600 women in seven counties rely on the mobile mammography unit to get their annual mammogram.
Arvest Bank is partnering with Mercy to host the van at its branches across the region. Below is a list of upcoming stops. To make an appointment call the branch location.
