A River Valley nurse and an illegal immigrant were arrested Wednesday evening during a drug bust at Park Terrace Apartments in Fort Smith.
Drug task force officers seized about an ounce of methamphetamine valued at nearly $3,000.
Police say Maura Rios, 36, and Hector Alvardo, 34, were arrested on several charges including possession of meth with intent to deliver, delivery of meth, maintaining a residence for drug activity and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two were taken into custody without incident. Officials say the couple was not cooking the meth at the residence. They allegedly got the meth from someone in Siloam Springs, police say.
Rios, a nurse at Van Buren Health and Rehab, has bonded out of jail. Meanwhile, Alvardo is still being held in the Sebastian County Detention Center on an immigration hold.
