Tank Wright Back At Linebacker

Razorback linebackers coach Taver Johnson has a new pupil to work with this spring.
Fayetteville--Senior defensive end Tank Wright was working at linebacker on day two of Razorback spring football drills. Head coach Bobby Petrino said he felt comfortable enough with the depth situation at defensive end to make the move. Arkansas is thin on experience at linebacker after the departure of four year starter Jerry Franklin and an injury to senior Alonzo Highsmith Jr.that will keep him sidelined the entire spring.

Petrino told reporters after the workout that Wright was happy to get a chance to move back to the position he was originally recruited to play.

"He's much faster now than when he did play there," Petrino noted. "He has a want to. He'd love to do it. So we'll take a look at it and see how it works out."

Wright's biggest problem on day one of the change did not involve a learning curve even though linebackers coach Taver Johnson did spent a lot of teaching time with his newest pupil. Petrino said conditioning, not x's and o's, is Wright's biggest challege at linebacker.

"He did get tired," Petrino observed. "You know, it's a lot different the amount of running and running downfield and everything is a lot different so we'll have to get him in shape."
