A lightning strike hit a natural gas well on Highway 59 south of Van Buren causing an explosion Monday morning , according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
The District 6 Rural Fire Department responded and quickly put the fire out. Arkansas State Police and Crawford County Deputies directed traffic while they worked. The gas well is located on Westark Sod and Turf Field #2, according to officials on the scene.
No injuries were reported.
