Jim Henson’s Muppets will be honored with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame March 20.

A special ceremony is planned to be held at The El Capitan Theatre in honor of their special event.  Jim Henson first brought Kermit to life in 1955, and “The Muppet Show” followed, entertaining audiences since 1976.

The Muppets finally hit the big screen in 1979 with “The Muppet Movie”, which featured such prominent celebrities as Bob Hope, Cloris Leachmen, and Mel Brooks, among others.  Several films have followed since then.

The most recent Muppet Movie, simply titled, “The Muppets” will also be released on DVD and Blu Ray March 20.  The song “Man or Muppet” from the film also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

The home release of the critically acclaimed comedy “The Muppets” includes the “Waca-Waca” three-disc value pack which contains the movie on Blu-ray high definition, DVD and Digital Copy, plus a download card which enables fans to have all the songs from the film’s soundtrack.

Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company, and Walt Disney Studios President Rich Ross will attend as The Muppets receive their star.  Jason Segel, who wrote and starred in The Muppets will also attend the event.
