Three people were arrested late Monday night after a police Standoff in Fort Smith.
Michael Ray Sayavong, 29, Sahalat Xayavongsa, 26, and Roger Keopraseuth, 28, surrendered to officers after CS gas was deployed inside the home during an hour and a half long standoff, police say.
Sayavong is being held without bond in the Sebastian County Detention Center on charges of Obstructing Governmental Operations, Fleeing Apprehension, Aggravated Assault, Absconding, Parole Violation, and Outstanding Warrants.
Xayavongsa was booked into jail on a $12,200 bond on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Obstructing Governmental Operations, Fleeing Apprehension and Aggravated Assault.
Keopraseuth is also being held on a $12,200 for the same charges.
Around 8:30 pm, Fort Smith Police responded to 3300 North “M” Street in reference to an Asian male pointing a gun at people, according to a police report.
Officers spoke to a woman, two men and a teenager on the scene who said they were in a vehicle when they stopped at the intersection of N. 33rd and N. “M,” because of technical difficulties with the vehicle’s radio.
While they were stopped in the roadway, a man, described as a heavy set Asian, came up to the car, pulled a silver handgun from his waistband and pointed it at them.
Witnesses say he repeatedly asked if they “had a problem” before the driver put the vehicle in reverse and drove away.
When officers arrived Sayavong, Xayavongsa, and Keopraseuth barricaded themselves inside the house and refused to come out.
After approximately an hour and a half of attempts to contact the men inside the residence, CS gas was deployed into the residence, police say.
Officers found two firearms in the house.
