A 12-year-old girl stabbed in Fort Smith has been released from the hospital, police say. But her 15- year-old sister and a 43-year-old woman, also attacked, remain hospitalized.

The 15-year-old girl woke up in Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock wanting to know what happened to her, but police say she’s still on a ventilator and unable to breathe on her own.

Meanwhile, the woman who was with the girls at the time 28-year-old Paul Stiles allegedly attacked them with a knife remains in intensive care on a ventilator.

Police received a 911 Call about a stabbing at 1302 South Boston Street at approximately 3:50 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police released 911 calls.

911: “What’s your emergency?”
Caller: “Somebody stabbed me.”
911: “Tell me what’s going on.”
Caller: “I don’t know. I just, I’ve been outside. I don’t know there’s blood everywhere. God, hurry. Please hurry.”

Sgt. Daniel Grubbs says Stiles showed up at an apartment adjacent to the victim’s home looking for a man named Marvin. When Stiles was unable to reach the man police say he went to a nearby home and asked to use their telephone. Police say that’s when Stiles stabbed the three victims.

“According to our victims we`ve talked to Mr. Stiles knocked on their door, asked to use a phone, and began stabbing people,” said Sgt. Grubbs.

Fort Smith Police say the victims’ wounds included stabs to their neck, upper torso legs, and back. The girls’ mother and a younger sibling also avoided injury during the incident.

According to Sgt. Grubbs, authorities were able to later locate the suspect at his home on Tony Street in Fort Smith and arrest him. Authorities say he faces battery and drug charges.

Authorities are not sure on what Stiles motive was for the stabbing. According to Sgt. Grubbs investigators do not know what connection the victims and the accused attacker may have.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing. Stiles is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond.
