Razorback Football Player Arrested for Pot

Michael Kane Whitehurst, an Arkansas redshirt freshman wide receiver, was arrested by University of Arkansas Police on campus for possession of marijuana early Sunday morning, according to a preliminary arrest report.

An officer was called to the Garland Ave. Parking Garage just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of a black BMW SUV driving at excessive speed through the garage.

The officer pulled Whitehurst over in Lot 37 on campus. According to the arrest report, the officer could smell burnt marijuana coming from the SUV. The officer found a pipe, grinder, and a small baggie of marijuana inside the SUV.

Whitehurst was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and has already been released.

Razorback Head Coach Bobby Petrino released a statement saying, “I am aware of the situation and it will be handled appropriately.”

Whitehurst’s arrest comes just a month after lineman Jason Peacock was arrested for allegedly using a stolen debit card.
