On their home turf, Arkansas won second place in the NCAA South Central Gymnastics Regional and UCLA, who's the recent national champion, took first place.

The Razorback Gymnastics Team competed against five other teams for a spot in nationals. Teams included UCLA, Arkansas, Boise State, Missouri, New Hampshire and Maryland.

The 10th ranked Razorback team has been a part of Regional every year, except in 2003. Razorback fans said the program is gaining popularity.

"In 2006 they made it to the National Championship and they've made it for the past five years straight. The program is growing incredibly since its inception 10 years ago and I hope it continues to grow," Chance Moore said.

"I'd say it's the most popular woman's sport here, lots and lots of people go, and they always have a huge crowd because they are really fun. It's a really different sport," Kendal Winston said.

Regionals included some of the country’s top gymnasts and UCLA fans said they still faced tough competition.

"Arkansas is a team that's won to contend for this title as well. We definitely do not come in thinking we're going to beat everybody because you never know what happens in gymnastics," Tonia Courtney said.

Arkansas' Jaime Pisani, who’s one of the nation`s top-ranked gymnasts, had some young fans in the audience.

"She's one of my favorites because she is so good and she's one of my favorite performers," said CJ Stigall.

The NCAA Championship takes place in Georgia on April 20th through the 22nd.
