The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department did not release any new information on Tuesday about the murder of 20-year-old Kaloni Flynn. Investigators interviewed people connected to the case on Tuesday, said Sheriff Bruce Curnutt.

Fort Smith Police confirmed a detective with their department is helping with the investigation. Sheriff Curnutt said the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is also assisting.

Meanwhile, a memorial fund has been set up to help Flynn’s family with burial costs, according to a family member. Donations can be made to the “Flynn Family Account #2869″ at Spiro State Bank. For more information call the bank at (918) 962-2453.

“Who knows why these things happen,” said Rene McGinnis, a neighbor, “Nobody has the right to take a life.”

Investigators say someone found Flynn’s body early Monday morning on McGinnis Lane just north of Highway 9 outside Spiro. “It’s been a low blow,” said McGinnis, “Everybody is family. You take care of each other and when something like this happens it’s hard.”

Family said Flynn was 12 weeks pregnant. Relatives say she was found dead with a gunshot wound. “A 20-year-old girl, my age, that I knew for this long, and then someone has taken her life plus her baby’s life too,” said Crystal Davidson, a friend, “I would never imagine that.”

Fort Smith Police say someone called the Crimestoppers line with a tip about the case. They passed that information along to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Sgt. Daniel Grubbs said a detective with the department is helping with the investigation.

“It makes you realize what you have,” said McGinnis, “You think well what if it was my daughter. What if it was my child?”

Sheriff Curnutt said Monday they have several persons of interest.

If you have any information on the murder investigation, call the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office at (918) 648-2317 or River Valley Crime Stoppers at (479) 78-CRIME.
