Fans will finally get to see what the Arkansas Razorbacks look like as they take the field for the annual Red-White game on Saturday. It’s the first time the team will play without former head coach Bobby Petrino.
But fans are more than ready to put Petrino in the past and show their Razorback spirit.
The scrimmage kicks off at 2 p.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. Gates open at 12:30 p.m., but the festivities being much earlier with RazorFest outside the stadium.
The free event begins at 10 a.m. and features music, mascots, giveaways, games and a fun zone for kids.
"There are more than 50 sponsors and vendors here with jump zones and games and activities concerts,” says Chris Magness, Organizer of Razorfest. “And just anything you can think of that that a child would want to do."
Organizers say it gives families a day full of football and fun.
"A lot of times kids don't the chance to come to a Razorback game because you have tickets and budgets,” Magness says. “So everyone can come out and watch the red white game at two as well. So it's going to be a fantastic day!"
Current NFL players and former Razorbacks like Todd Busbee will also be on hand to sign autographs.
"I've got a football that I'm going I have autographed,” Busbee says. “And I thought about getting a jersey and having it autographed and putting it up I'll either give it to my son or keep it for myself."
Busbee says it important now more than ever for fans to come out and show razorback pride.
"The more people that show up for the Red White game shows that yeah we're still together,” Busbee says. “We’re still Razorback Nation."
The autograph session starts at 10:15 a.m.
Because of construction, parking near the stadium is limited so there will be shuttles from Road Hog Park, the Baum East lot and lot 56.
If you head out to the Red White game you may notice something a little different. The university has added the hash tag #gohogs on the 25 yard lines at Razorback Stadium. The athletic department says it’s another way to further connect with fans on social media.
