Purpose/Reason for this Position:
5NEWSonline.com has an immediate opening on for a part-time Interactive/Web Producer. The successful candidate will have a journalism background and excellent command of the English language (spelling, grammar, punctuation). This is a great position to get your foot in the door and be able to grow within the station.
Core Job Functions:
- The ability to turn a wide range of hard news stories quickly
- Develop and maintain meaningful contacts
- Must be able to come up with new story ideas everyday
- Posting and updating content (stories, pictures, video and more) on station website
- Building new elements in station’s content management system
- Gathering information for online and on-air stories
- Other news duties as assigned
Minimum Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Ability to speak and write grammatically, correct English. Must know how to type. The aptitude to learn station’s content management system and other relevant equipment. Excellent spelling and attention to detail a must! Must possess a valid State Driver’s License (or be able to get one).
Education Requirements:
A college degree in English, Journalism, Interactive Media, Communications or related-degree is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Dexterity to type. Must be able to handle stress of a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
