A 54-year-old Logan County man accused of shooting his neighbor in the mouth is out on bond.

Buster Allen Tritt appeared before District Judge Elizabeth Danielson Thursday morning  for a probable cause hearing.

Chief Deputy David Spicer says the judge found probable cause to hold Tritt on a second-degree battery charge in the shooting of his neighbor Terry Osburn, 29, Tuesday night outside a home on Parks Road in Prairie View, a community south of Scranton.

Tritt’s bond was set at $5,000 and he has since bonded out of jail.  Spicer says formal charges haven’t been filed.

Tritt is expected to appear in court in July.

Osburn, 29, was shot in the mouth while sitting on the front porch of his home, Spicer says.

Spicer says the shooting does not appear to be intentional.  Tritt told police he was actually aiming for a stray cat and shot his neighbor by accident.

He says Osburn and the neighbor have had no prior altercations.

Osburn was hospitalized in Fort Smith and had to undergo surgery for his injuries.
