KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Arkansas Razorbacks scored early an often en route to an 8-0 win over Tennessee in the opening game of the final regular season series.

Arkansas got started with two outs in the first. Matt Reynolds and Brian Anderson hit back-to-back home runs to stake the Hogs to a 2-0 lead.

The Razorbacks added four more in the second. Derrick Bleeker led off the inning with a solo home run. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Dominic Ficociello sent a sacrifice fly to left to score Jacob Mahan, then Reynolds drove in his second and third runs of the game with a double to center to make it 6-0 after two.

Bleeker continued a great day with his second home run to lead off the top of the third.

For good measure, Arkansas added one more run in the top of the eight. Bleeker doubled to left, scoring Anderson to make it 8-0.

That was seven runs more than DJ Baxendale needed.

The Hog junior went eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in earning the win, moving his record to 7-3 on the year.

Tyler Wright pitched a scoreless ninth to finish it out.

The win moves the Razorbacks’ record to 37-17 overall and 14-14 in SEC play.

The series continues Friday night, first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Arkansas will start sophomore righty Ryne Stanek (6-3, 2.99) opposite Tennessee’s Nick Williams (3-4, 3.61).
