Man Rescued by Neighbor after Vian Home Explosion

A home northwest of Vian, Oklahoma is destroyed by fire just after 6:30 p.m. Monday after an explosion, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.

The house on 4505 Road in Sequoyah County was fully engulfed in flames when the Vian Fire Department and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, according to Sherriff Lockhart.

Authorities say the explosion originated in the garage, where homeowner has several incubators for raising quail.

Eyewitnesses tell 5NEWS the homeowner was inside during the explosion and was rescued by a neighbor. The man appeared to be shaken up, but otherwise escaped harm.

Neighbor Fred Chapman lives across the street says the victim is staying with family.

The house was a total loss, according to Sheriff Lockhart.
