Walmart has found a way to “Keep it Local” by giving area businesses a boost. The Bentonville Butcher and Deli now has expanded by opening two satellite locations inside two of the retail giant’s Neighborhood Markets in Rogers and Fayetteville.
The manager of the Bentonville Butcher and Deli, a family owned specialty food store, says they opened a meat market in the Rogers Neighborhood Walmart about three years ago.
"It's been great for us,” said Philip Moser. “In Rogers, we already had a customer base in the Pinnacle area so it allowed us to serve those customers without having them come here."
The deli has distributers throughout the United States, who ship fresh meat and seafood to Bentonville to be processed.
Now they’re also in the Walmart at Crossover and Mission in Fayetteville.
"Being in another county over especially, not everyone was traveling down here,” Moser said. “People were familiar but the majority wasn't."
The deli has been in business for 12 years. Placement in the Walmart stores is allowing them to reach more people.
"They already have their traffic already established, so it allowed us to reach out to some of their customers," Moser said.
Owner Mike Robinson says he would like to expand into more Walmart stores, but doesn't have any plans just yet.
