Rainfall moving into the area is offering some relief to those concerned about low-end drought conditions.

Showers and mild thunderstorms went through the River Valley and Northwest Arkansas early Wednesday morning.

The heaviest rains of the week are expected to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday.  5NEWS meteorologists say a large complex of storms will bring in heavy rains, some gusty winds, and hail.

Most of the storms wrapped up just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.  So far no major damage has been reported from the storms that have gone through the area.  In Northern Benton County residents reported seeing some pea-sized hail.  Meanwhile in Fayetteville the main issue was strong lightning that moved into the area.

The storms that moved in early Wednesday morning did cause some power outages in the area.  At one point OG&E reported more than 2,000 Fort Smith residents were without power, while Arkansas Valley Electric reported approximately 400 outages, which was mostly limited to Crawford County and Sequoyah County in Oklahoma.  Power has now been restored to nearly all residents in the area.
