Bentonville police are looking for a suspect they say tried to rob an insurance company armed with a machete Friday. The suspect threw the machete during the robbery attempt at Advantage 1 Insurance, injuring an employee there.

Police said in a press release that the suspect is a dark-skinned man in his mid-20s, who is about 6-feet, 2-inches tall. He has a thin build, short hair and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a paisley pattern.

He walked into the business at the 2300 block of S.E. 28th Street about 5:30 p.m. and demanded money from the employee. After a confrontation, the suspect threw the machete, causing minor injuries to the man’s face and a wrist.

The suspect fled and left in the passenger seat of a gray or sliver 4-door car, possible a Hyundai Sonata, police said. The driver was a woman with blond hair and a small build. There appeared to be a baby girl in a car seat in the back seat of the car.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bentonville Police Department at 479.271.3170
