Decatur Police Identify Drowning Victim

Decatur police 39-year-old Gilbardo de Leon Velazquez drowned on Crystal Lake Sunday evening.

The Benton County Dive team was called to assist in the effort to recover Velazquez.

The victim was found after 11 p.m. about 100 yards off shore in 25 feet of water, according to Deputy Doug Gay with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Gay says the man was swimming with two other people.
