Lunchtime on the Bentonville Square has never tasted better!  If you’re ever hungry it’s a great place to be, but you’ll have to get there early for lunch, because people start piling into Bentonville’s Station Café by 11 a.m.

The restaurant is known for their steak burgers and fries, but the owner of the place knows that is only part of the equation.

When asked what makes his restaurant so special, Owner Cecil Turner says consistency is the key.  “Well it’s customer service and consistency. Be consistent in everything you do and we try to do that. We don’t always accomplish it but we try,” said Turner.

The Station Cafe is located not far from the old Walton Five and Dime.  The customer service lessons that work at Wal-Mart are also used at the Station Cafe.

Cecil Turner moved here from Minnesota over twenty years ago, and he soaked up the lessons learned while walking around Wal-Mart.

“So, I’d go over to Walmart and just walk around. I was amazed at the level of service. The ten foot rule… I was amazed at the level of service. I had been in the food business for 55 years and I thought I knew a lot about customer service, but I learned a lot from Walmart.”

On the day we were there, even Bentonville Mayor Bob McCaslin was in for a quick burger and a smile.

That’s what you’ll get when you stop in too.

Station Café is one restaurant that knows its burgers.  Turner says their most popular item is the Angus Steak Burger. However, Turner says, the Station Cafe is much more than just burgers.

He says they’ve also got hot beef sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, rubens, and all kinds of food items on the menu, and the kids even get a free ice cream after their meal.

They’ve also got a special that includes a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for $8 plus tax.

The next time you’re on the Bentonville Square; don’t forget to stop on by The Station Café. Other than Channel 5, it’s the most important station, and a tasty way to Keep it Local.
