Police Search for Driver in Hit & Run Accident

Fort Smith Police are looking for the driver of a gray early 90s extended cab Chevrolet pickup truck involved in a hit and run that left one man injured Saturday.

Police say James Garfield, of Greenwood, sustained scrapes and bruises when his motorcycle was hit by the truck. Family members tell 5NEWS he also suffered a broken bone.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. According to the police report, both Garfield and the driver of the truck were northbound on N. 11th when they approached the intersection of N. J St. The driver of the truck attempted to make a left turn from the right lane and hit Garfield who was in the left lane.

The motorcycle was damaged, according to police. Garfield was taken to the hospital.
