Memorial services are set for man killed after falling off a cliff at Mount Magazine Sunday.

Caleb Lewis’ funeral will be held Thursday at 2p.m. at the Brotherton Funeral Home in Charleston.

Family and friends of Lewis say it's still hard to grasp he isn't coming back home.

Lewis' best friend Jeremy Smith says a group of friends went swimming Sunday then decided to stop at Mount Magazine and take pictures. That's when deputies say Lewis crossed a barrier, lost his footing, and fell off a cliff.

"My first reaction was just yelling for him and just kept yelling, but no response," said Smith.

Smith says he stayed with his friend until first responders arrived, but it was too late. Lewis was just-21-years old.

According to family, Lewis loved being outdoors, but he was best known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor.

“No matter what the situation, he could always make you laugh," said Lewis’ sister Summer Pendleton.

Known as the prankster, friends and family find comfort in his memories, but wouldn't tell his most extreme jokes.

"I don't know if he's want me to share it,” his Aunt Crystal Rhoads laughed. “He was just always so funny and always cutting up, and he was a character."

Not just a funny man, Lewis was the oldest of five and goal oriented with plans to get a welding degree.

"He was full of life,” said Lewis’ mother Shannon Pendleton. “He loved the outdoors, but he loved to be at home with his family."

An accident took a life too soon.

"I still can't believe that it happened, or that he's not here," said Rhoads.
