A Gentry couple is named the Benton County Farm Family of the Year.
Keith and Georgia Harper showed off their awards Friday at their home on Cripps Road. The Harpers raise chickens and are suppliers to Simmons. The excited couple not only won farm family of the year, they were also recognized by the Arkansas House of Representatives.
“We’re thrilled to represent the farming community as a whole, and agriculture and the contribution that is made to the nation and all through farms,” said Georgia.
The couple says they were surprised to be chosen for the honor because recent winners have had young children. The harpers do have kids, but they are grown.
The couple also says they hope to inspire young people to become farmers.
