Razorback fans heading to Omaha for the College World Series may want to grab their bicycle.

As you can imagine, parking can be a nightmare at a major sporting event. In response to this the College World series has created a “Bike to the Ballpark” program.

According to the College World series website, during the 2011 CWS, more than 700 people took advantage of the first “Bike to the Ballpark” program made possible by the not-for-profit Omaha Bikes.

It’s actually very simple for fans to do it. A bike corral has been setup near T.D. Ameritrade Park on Mike Fahey Street between 13th and 14th Streets. There a bicycle valet service is available. Fans give them their bikes and get a ticket, which they can bring back when they’re ready to go. It’s open an hour before the first game and an hour after the last game of the day.

The best part about it is the program is free. Any proceeds raised benefit Omaha Bikes.

With parking at the game costing an average of $10 per vehicle on a first-come, first-served basis biking into the game isn’t a bad trade off.

Permanent bike racks are also installed in downtown and north downtown areas.

The Diamond Hogs are set to take the field against Kent State at 4 p.m. Saturday. The game will be shown on ESPN.
