The Wanna Be Racing go-kart track at Ben Geren Park was bought by a private individual Wednesday.

That was after the Sebastian County Quorum Court agreed to by the go-kart track from Dan Bardin for $35,000 Tuesday night. Wednesday, the county’s offer was taken off the table.

Bardin would not say what the final selling price was on the property. Originally, he was asking for $50,000.

“No matter who runs it…it’s something for the people and we want the people to be out here enjoying it,” said Sebastian County Parks Administrator Shannon Toland.

The track has been closed since June 1.

Bardin said he decided it was time for something new.

“I just couldn’t keep up with the demands of the park,” said Bardin who is planning to start a new career.

“The plan is to get this up and running as soon as possible,” said Toland.

The new owner of Wanna Be Racing is currently going through legal work with the Sebastian County park system. Therefore, the exact open date for the race track has not yet been determined. However, he said the new manager is excited to get people back out on the track as soon as possible.
