Police are questioning two women after a search in connection with an attempted car break-in at an Ozark convenience store.

Ozark Police Chief Corey Tedford said an employee at the Interstate 40 Travel Plaza near Highway 23 N spotted two women trying to break into a white BMW earlier today. The pair fled into nearby woods, triggering a search by the Arkansas State Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Ozark police.

Police now are questioning two women who were walking along I-40 in the area of the search, Tedford said.

Police believe the two suspects abandoned a passenger car at the store that was stolen in Oklahoma, according to Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen.

Police took possession of the car.
