Models have struggled with the track of Tropical Storm Debby lately, but it is becoming clear that the storm will track farther to the west toward Florida and eventually toward the Southeast.

This means we are expecting no rain or cooler temperatures from this system. One of the reasons we expect this storm to continue to track more to the east is due to a strong area of high pressure that will prevent the storm from making much progress to the east….toward us.

With this area of high pressure firmly in place over our area over the next wee temperatures will to remain hot, and increase throughout the week. Record highs will be possible this week in both northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.

This pattern will allow highs near 100° in northwest Arkansas and the low 100’s in the River Valley and eastern Oklahoma.

The concern really grows over the next couple of weeks as rain chances look slim. This will likely lead to a deepening drought and allow temperatures to continue to remain very hot.
