A Bentonville man was arrested after he allegedly set fire to his grandparent’s home.

Police arrested Egan Andreasen, 18, Monday for arson.

Bentonville police and firefighters were dispatched to a home in the Kensington Subdivision Wednesday in reference to a structure fire.

The homeowner told police a fire in the master bedroom was set intentionally by Andreasen, their grandson. The fire caused about $15,000 worth of damage to the room.

On Monday, the homeowner returned home and found that the door knob to the backdoor had been removed and a water hose was inserted into the hole. Police say the home suffered extensive water damage.

Andreasen was additionally charged with criminal mischief after the incident. He is being held in the Benton County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
