“Pyro-musical” Show Will Light Up Bentonville Tonight
The sky will light up in Bentonville tonight as the city holds its third annual fireworks presentation: An evening at Orchards Park.
Terry Lovett of Liberty Pyrotechnics says it will be one of the largest fireworks shows in Northwest Arkansas.
“This is one of the shells you’ll be seeing tonight,” Lovett said, holding a firework. “About 1,400 shells” are part of the presentation, he said.
The Bentonville Parks and Recreation Department is assisting, and to get the fireworks set up took a lot of preparation — about 60-hours-worth by 20 people.
“It’s about a $28,000 show, and as far as man hours, we started setting up Sunday night,” Lovett said.
Before the show starts, the Arkansas Winds Orchestra will play a tribute to America with a series of patriotic songs. Even the fireworks will be in sync with music.
“It’s considered to be a ‘pyro-musical,’ and it’s…all choreographed with music. So there will be explosions, loud noises with music,” Lovett said. “It’s really cool.”
With dry conditions, Lovett says the fire department and extra help will be on-hand to address any problems.
