Carlton Sepmoree, 24, was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly breaking into vehicles and attacking a Van Buren police officer.

Fireworks spectators on Logtown Hill called police around 10 p.m. after they noticed Sepmoree allegedly breaking into vehicles in a nearby parking lot, according to a police report.

Police say Sepmoree ran from the scene to his brother’s home on Fayetteville Road after one of the victims began chasing him. The brother made him leave after he learned what he had allegedly been doing, according to the report.

When he later returned, Sepmoree’s brother called police. Sepmoree resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the groin, according to the report. Police say another officer’s Kevlar glove was ripped during the altercation.

According to the police report, Sepmoree was heavily intoxicated and told the officer he’d been drinking whisky.

Police say three vehicles were broken into. Several stolen items and cash were recovered, the report states.

Sepmoree is facing multiple charges breaking and entering, multiple counts of theft of property, battery 2nd, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, fleeing, and disorderly conduct.

He was booked into the Crawford County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
