Naturals Swept by Hooks
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals fell to Corpus Christi, 7-3, Saturday night.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The Northwest Arkansas Naturals fell to the Corpus Christi Hooks, 7-3, Saturday night at Arvest Ballpark.
The loss is the sixth straight for Northwest Arkansas.
Yem Prades gave the home team the lead in the third with a three-run home run, his fifth of the year, to make it 3-0. It stayed that way until the sixth, when a triple from Jose Martinez scored two to make it 3-2.
Corpus Christi tied it the next inning on a soft flare to center that score Chris Wallace, then took the lead in the eighth when Drew Muren singled to center, scoring Jake Goebbert on a close play at home. Northwest Arkansas manager Brian Poldberg came out to argue to no avail.
Corpus Christi then added three insurance runs in the ninth.
Ryan Dennick took the loss for the Naturals for giving up two runs in relief of starter Michael Mariot, who threw 5.2 innings, struck out four and gave up two runs.
The Naturals continue the homestand on Sunday with the first of three against San Antonio. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
