Chuck E. Cheese isn’t quite the mouse you may remember. The infamous pizza and children’s entertainment restaurant has given him a makeover for a new cool look.
The new Chuck E. Cheese mascot has a “hip, rock star look” and he is much smaller than the former mascot.
The company’s new national ad campaign is voiced by Jaret Reddick, lead singer of the band “Bowling for Soup,” according to Time Magazine.
The former voice of Chuck E. Cheese, Duncan Brennan said he learned about his voice being retired from the character when he came across “Chuck’s Hot New Single” on the Chuck E. Cheese facebook page, and realized it was sung by someone else.
Brennan took over the Chuck E. Cheese image in 1993, giving the mascot a considerable improvement. Before Brennan took over Chuck E. Cheese appeared to be a rat who would occasionally brandish a cigar.
The new mascot move could be an attempt to boost sales. According to the Associated Press, revenue fell 4.2 percent for Chuck E. Cheese restaurants in the first quarter, causing the restaurant chain to lower its outlook for the year.
