The Benton County clerk says enough signatures were verified Sunday to put an alcohol sales question to voters.

County Clerk Tina O’Brien said the group Keep Dollars in Benton County turned in enough verifiable signatures.

“As of three o’clock today, we verified 41,474 signatures, which is 303 over the required number of signatures… needed to put the issue on the November ballot,” O’Brien said.

Keep Dollars in Benton County submitted 56,000 signatures to county officials more than a week ago. They want the question of whether Benton County should become “wet” and allow the sales, put to voters in the Nov. 6 election.

County officials worked Saturday and Sunday validating the signatures.
