Home where deputies attempted to serve warrant

A man is in police custody following a manhunt in Pea Ridge by the city police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Department.

Jeremy Wayne Watkins ran out the back door of a home at 1589 Jenks Court when deputies tried to serve a separate man in the house with a felony arrest warrant in connection with writing hot checks, said Major Gene Drake of the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities captured Watkins, 33, at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a two-hour-long search and transported him to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers to treat dehydration. He will be taken to the Benton County Jail after being released, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Watkins had a misdemeanor warrant out on failure to appear on a suspended driver’s license. He now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor fleeing.

An earlier report said Watkins was being served with a felony warrant, according to Major Gene Drake of the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
