Crews Battle Fort Smith Fire
A Fort Smith fire is under control after fire officials say a camper behind a house went up in flames.
The Fort Smith Fire Department responded to the fire at 1800 S. 12th Street shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Crews declared the scene under control at about 8:40 p.m.
The adult son of the house’s owner was living in the small camper, which was fully engulfed in the fire. The son was not home when the fire began.
Visible flames were shooting from the rooftop when crews arrive, black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky.
A cord ran between the main house and the camper. Fire officials are not ready to declare the cause of the fire.
