One Injured But OK After Severe Fayetteville Traffic Accident

A man was injured in a morning traffic accident in Fayetteville, but was discharged later from the hospital.

A morning traffic accident caused some delays for drivers. Dispatchers with the Fayetteville Police Department said the accident occurred at 10:03 a.m. at the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. across the street from a Walmart Supercenter.

The accident occurred in the westbound lane near a traffic light.

The wreck involved a semi-truck and a black pickup truck. Vernon Madewell, the driver of the pickup, had a minor head injury from the crash. He was treated and released from Washington Regional Medical Center. The semi driver did not sustain any injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the accident. The collision remains under investigation, and no report is available at this time.
