“Pigshibition” kicked off in Fayetteville this week. It’s all part of an effort to raise money and awareness for the Ozark Literacy Council.

More than 20 local artists were commissioned to paint a pig. The painted pigs will be displayed around the city. Arvest Bank in downtown Fayetteville became the first location to sport a newly painted pig Thursday.

The project is a combination of helping people and supporting local artists.

“It's really good for the Ozark Literacy Council because they'll be highlighting the importance of reading and the number of people who can't read,” said Marilyn Heifner, with the advertising and promotion commission.

Many more pigs will be popping up all over town. Each artist was paid $500 for their work which was funded by sponsors of the literacy council.
