Police are still searching for a man they say attempted to rob a West Siloam Springs, Okla., liquor and convenience store at gunpoint Wednesday.

Siloam Springs police pulled back from the search Wednesday night to preserve resources, but West Siloam officers were talking to witnesses and collecting evidence at the crime scene Thursday.

Police are reviewing surveillance tape from State Line Liquor of the robbery. They have collected a red rag police say the suspect may have used to cover his face.

Police said they lost the trail of the wanted man Wednesday night and were not sure if he was still in the area.

The suspect may have fled over the state line into Siloam Springs on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police tried to set up a perimeter in the area, but could not find the suspect.

Officers and deputies from Siloam Springs, West Siloam Springs and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office had gathered to look for the suspect.

No injuries were reported in the attempted robbery.

John Brown University sent out a campus alert at 3:55 p.m. saying that police were in pursuit of an armed robber and that the suspect was last seen in the Siloam Springs Bible Church area. The report said the suspect was wearing a white hoodie and red Budweiser pants.

The wanted man is about 5-foot-7 and weighs approximately 125 pounds.
