Not only was Sunday the last day of the Benton County Fair, but it was also the last day of summer for many kids in the area. Families spent the day at the fairgrounds making the most of their day before school starts Monday morning.
Kids of all ages filled the Benton County Fairground as they soaked up their last day of summer vacation.
The Elkins family made their way out to the Benton County Fair on Sunday.
While at the fair, their son, Alex, had just one thing on his mind.
"Chili cheese dogs because when they have melted cheese it just tastes so good because everybody likes cheese," Alex said.
Alex's sister Lauren was not interested in the chili cheese dogs, nachos, or any of the other food the fair had to offer, she had her eyes on the rides.
"At school you do work; and here you have fun, do rides and stuff," Lauren said.
Their dad, Scott Elkins, got the full fair experience as well but he decided to watch from afar as his kids tackled the tilt-a-whirl.
"They are on the tilt-a-whirl and hopefully they are going to come off without falling down," said Elkins.
Elkins said he is glad his kids were able to have some outdoor fun before hitting the books again tomorrow morning.
"It's the last chance to get out before they have to start school again and have some fun in the sun," Elkins said.
The fair wraps up Sunday.
The Johnson County Fair will be held Aug. 21-25, and the Crawford County Fair on September 8-15.
