A Bentonville man is accused of sexually assaulting a 74-year-old woman at a local nursing home where he worked, according to Rogers Police.
Luis Antonio Lopez, 20, was arrested Tuesday. Police began investigating Lopez on Aug. 13 after another employee of New Hope Health and Rehab saw Lopez allegedly sexually assaulting a resident and reported it, according to Officer Keith S. Foster of the Rogers Police Department.
"At the time they were trying to help the lady get ready for bed and helping her change clothes. That's when the incident happened," Foster said.
Lopez is being held at the Benton County Detention Center waiting for a bond hearing.
Nursing home administrators moved quickly to call police and fire Lopez after they became aware of the situation, said Shane Edwards, chief operating officer for New Hope Health and Rehab.
The facility has a zero tolerance policy for such misconduct, Edwards said.
