Joy H. Blumenfeld, 48, of Decatur, whose car was involved in a head-on collision in Benton County, was listed fair condition Friday at Washington Regional Medical Center, officials said.

She was hospitalized in critical condition after another car hit the Saturn she was driving head-on Thursday on Arkansas 102, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

The accident occurred between Centerton and Decatur at about 8:30 a.m., officials said.

Kyle R. Knapp, 19, also of Decatur, fell asleep while driving a Chevrolet Malubu west on the highway, crossed the center line and struck Blumenfield’s east-bound car, the report states. Knapp was hospitalized at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville in good condition, according to the report. Knapp had no passengers in his car, the report indicates.

Knapp was treated and later released from the hospital on Thursday, officials said.

Two passengers in Blumenfeld’s car were hospitalized at Northwest Medical Center. Roger Hollaway, 46, and Jerrod D. Wynne, 24, both of Decatur, were listed in stable condition, according to the report.

Wynne also was treated and later released Thursday, officials said.
