A Bentonville man accused of sexually assaulting a 74-year-old woman at a local nursing home where he worked is out of jail on bond.

Luis Antonio Lopez, 20, posted $15,000 bond at Benton County Jail at 11:28 a.m. Thursday.

Lopez was arrested Tuesday. Police began investigating him on Aug. 13 after another employee of New Hope Health and Rehab saw Lopez allegedly sexually assaulting a resident and reported it, according to Officer Keith S. Foster of the Rogers Police Department.

“At the time they were trying to help the lady get ready for bed and helping her change clothes. That’s when the incident happened,” Foster said.

A nursing home employee witnessed Lopez pinch an elderly woman’s breast as they were changing the woman into her nightgown, according to a Probable Cause Affidavit.

Nursing home administrators moved quickly to call police and fire Lopez after they became aware of the situation, said Shane Edwards, chief operating officer for New Hope Health and Rehab.

The facility has a zero tolerance policy for such misconduct, Edwards said.
