Toddler OK After Accident With Mom’s Car

A Springdale boy is out of the hospital a day after emergency crews responded to a call about a collision between a child and a vehicle.

The 6-year-old’s mother told 5NEWS he was running after her car in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 1907 E. Emma Ave. When the mother slowed down, the boy ran into the vehicle’s bumper, fell down and hit his head, the mom said.

The Springdale Fire Department says the boy was talking when they arrived on the scene. “Seems like a very fortunate case of not too significant of an injury,” said Division Chief Jim Vaughan, of the Springdale Fire Department.

The boy was rushed to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale with a head injury, according to a Springdale Fire Department report. The child was hospitalized overnight with concussion symptoms and released Friday, the mom said.

Police dispatchers originally said the car ran over a 2-year-old child’s lower body.
