No one was injured in a Fort Smith apartment complex fire after a man kicked down a door and saved a dog while the fire raged.

A fire damaged Timberline Apartments Tuesday night. Fire crews responded to a call of flames at 5900 Kinkead Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.

A neighbor kicked down the door of an apartment unit during the fire, but found no one inside except for a dog, witnesses said. The dog is OK.

An employee with the complex tells 5NEWS the fire damage was extensive. Witnesses say the fire started in a first-floor unit, then spread to a second-floor apartment. At least two units were damaged.

The Fort Smith Fire Department is still hosing the complex down. No flames are showing.
