Cabela’s is prepping for its grand opening in Rogers located at 2300 Promenade Blvd on Thursday which will be full of festivities and celebrities.
Opening Day gets underway at 7 a.m. Thursday with a concert by local band Bruce Webb and Mountain Dew followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Doors will open for business at 9 a.m.
But the fun kicked off Wednesday afternoon when country singer Justin Moore performed a free concert just across the street from the store’s new location.
The 100-thousand square foot store has camping, hunting, and fishing gear. Cabela's CEO Tommy Millner told 5NEWS the process started around a year ago when he came and looked at the property.
The new store brings jobs and money to the local economy.
"The sales tax contributions and all the money on a lot of these products in here goes to pay for wildlife conservation,” Millner said. “Guns, ammunition, hunting supplies, all of those things have an excise tax in them that funds wildlife conservation that comes back to the states."
Moore, a native of central Arkansas and a Razorback fan, is supportive of the new venture.
“It's very difficult to provide jobs and these guys are not only doing it but they are doing it the right way,” Moore said. “I don't hook up with people and do things that I don't respect and have a lot of admiration for."
Around 175 jobs were created with this new business.
