In the annual “Battle of the Bone”, it was Alma who had all the bit.

The Airedales scored 28 first half points and cruised to a 47-21 win against the visiting Pointers.

Alma (1-0) scored on the opening possession of the game and then it’s defense held the Pointers (0-1) at bay for the duration of the first half.

Gage Jensen had two first half touchdown passes in the opening quarter, one to Dillon Work and the other to a wide open Lance Wheeler, give the Airedales a 20-0 lead.

Van Buren’s first half got worse when Work gashed the middle of the Pointers’ defense for a 15-yard touchdown run putting Alma up 28-0 with more than five minutes left in the half.

Alma claimed the Crawford County rivalry for the second consecutive season after beating Van Buren 14-0 in 2011. The Airedales are 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings with Van Buren.
