The state Health Department confirmed two of the Gentry students sent home to isolation have measles.

Ozark Adventist Academy administrators first suspected measles at the school when a student came to the nurse practitioner’s office with a rash and a fever. Another potential case involving a sibling later came to administrators’ attention.

The private school sent both students home for 21 days of isolation after consulting with the Center For Disease Control and county and state health departments, said Principal Mike Dale.

Eight other students were isolated at home as a precaution because their vaccinations were not up-to-date.

Health department officials were on the school campus earlier this week to assist administrators in containing potential cases of the contagious disease. Dale said he believes officials have curbed the measles cases, as the vast majority of the 159-student campus remains unaffected.
