Linebackers Highsmith and Wright Still Getting in Game Shape
Arkansas’s two best linebackers, Tenarius Wright and Alonzo Highsmith, missed a lot of fall camp due to injuries. Saturday they returned in the 49-24 win over Jacksonville State, both feeling good. Yet they know they have a long way to go to get in game shape and need more practice reps.
However, their presence was felt last weekend. Wright had eight total tackles and Highsmith seven, making them the second and third leading tacklers in the game. That proves these two players are the heart and soul of the Hogs defense. To get better they just need to get more reps in practice. Being out a long time can make a player miss a step, no matter how experience they are.
“With each practice that we do have a head of us we just have to take advantage of every snap that we do take at practice,” said Wright. “We’ve got to come to balance and just make more tackles, watching film and evaluating ourselves to see exactly where we have to step up our game.”
