Bentonville Woman Killed in Scooter Accident

A Bentonville woman was killed Sunday after the scooter she was riding side-swiped a pickup truck.

Christal M Lafera, 34, was riding a 2010 Honda SH 150 westbound on Prairie Creek Drive in Rogers, when she encroached into the eastbound lane and hit a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Gary D. Richardson, 48, of Garfield, according to an accident report from the Rogers Police Department.

The accident happened on a curve near the intersection of Prairie Creek Drive and North F Street just after 11 a.m., according to police.

The Rogers Fire Department responded to the scene and Lafera was transported by medi-vac to Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., where she later died of her injuries. Richardson was not injured.

No citations were issued, according to the report.
