Towering over downtown Fayetteville is the Chancellor Hotel with 207 rooms and 16 floors.

“Supposedly the highest point in Fayetteville,” says VCC Construction C.E.O Sam Alley as he stands on the 16th floor looking at the view.

“On the 16th floor, the top floor is absolutely gorgeous,” says Jim Mooty.

Since mid-November, the building has undergone top-to-bottom redesign and renovations.

“We have the latest and greatest technology, and we have plenty space to accommodate 600 people. [We] renovated 200,000 feet,” explains Alley.

The new hotel carries a restaurant called the Union Kitchen and Bar, a 14,000-square-foot conference center and an indoor and outdoor salt water swimming pool.

But changes were made, down to the furniture and fixings.

“I love the retro look, the modern look.  I think it’s really sleek,” says Kate Shepherd.

The hotel has had many names throughout the years, most previously known as the Cosmopolitan.

“I’ve been at this hotel when it was several things, when it was the Hilton, the Cosmopolitan and now it’s the Chancellor,” says Mooty.

Friday is the grand opening of the Chancellor, with a meaning behind its name.

“We try to relay a lot of things to the university.  So we have the chancellor suite, we have the Yocum suite, the Ozark suite which overlooks the Ozarks and the alumni suite,” says Alley.

The grand opening celebration will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday at 10 a.m.
